If it gets lost or you can’t turn it on anymore, would you be able to recover everything? Almost certainly not. That’s why it is important to make a full backup of your Android device, to be able to use a USB connection to ensure the backup of its music, its WhatsApp messages and all its SMS, but above all to know how to use these backups to restore data on a new Android phone or, perhaps, on an iPhone.
Our data: today there are, tomorrow who knows …
Although no one likes to think that they can lose their phone, it is a fact that data saved on Android devices constantly runs the risk of being lost forever. This unless you learn to protect them by making a simple backup. On the other hand, it is precisely the data that makes the phone we use every day precious and this is evident especially when we have to replace it: if we consider the lost time, the lack of productivity and the possible loss of photos, videos and important messages, it is clear that the real cost of replacing it is not the price of the device itself. Obviously, data backup is not able to protect us from the loss of the phone, but it substantially helps to reduce the costs associated with the loss of your data.
How simple it is to lose data!
Most people use Android phones not only to communicate, but also to entertain and document more or less important moments. The result of all these possibilities of use is that with smartphones today you can do so many things that you end up forgetting how easy it is to lose all your data. Here are some of the most common ways:
Thefts and forgetfulness
Over the past two years, kill-switch and online tracking features have helped to reduce smartphone theft a lot, but millions of people continue to be robbed today. These are fundamental technologies to make phone data inaccessible to third parties, but which are unable to do anything to recover it, if the devices on which they are saved are stolen.
Theft aside, losing your smartphone or just forgetting it somewhere is extremely easy. Although it has never happened directly, surely everyone knows someone who happened to it. In this case, if you are lucky, the phone is found and returned, but otherwise your data is lost forever … unless a backup has been made.
Malware, Ransomware and Virus
Until recently, the case of virus-infected Android devices was rare. Today, however, Android phones and tablets are attacked exactly like computers and even ransomware has now become a problem. These are attacks that compromise Android devices, making them lose their data forever. Again, if you have developed a good backup strategy, you are able to recover them, otherwise viruses and ransomware can irremediably block access to them.
Unintentional cancellations for ‘big fingers’
Have you ever suffered from “big fingers” and accidentally deleted a very important file or message from your Android phone? Most likely yes: involuntary deletions are quite common on smartphones and is one of the main causes of data and message loss. By creating and storing a backup of them on a PC or in the cloud, it will always be possible to recover these files, whether they have been deleted by mistake or on purpose.
Backup to Google and potential problems
There is a saying among IT professionals: any kind of backup is better than nothing! Sure it’s true, but relying on accurate backups makes it much easier to restore lost data. Today on the market there are many apps that allow you to backup Android devices, but all these backup applications on the Google Play Store have the same problem: they save the backup data on a Gmail or Google Drive account.
Unauthorized access to Google data
While storing Android backups on Google isn’t a bad idea, it’s important to know that this option can put all of our files at risk if someone steals or takes over our phone. Using our smartphone, anyone can delete all the backup data saved on our Google account. So even if you resort to this backup solution , it is still advisable to store another copy of our data in a safer environment in order to guarantee their redundancy and greater peace of mind.
Acronis: the ultimate backup solution
As already mentioned, many backup apps are available on the market for Android phones and tablets, but none of them can offer the same precision, reliability, ease of use and protection as Acronis Mobile Backup App .
Acronis Mobile is a free app that allows you to back up all critical data of Android phones in just a few steps and which also ensures their recovery with the same ease. Be careful, though: its ease of use doesn’t mean it lacks powerful features. Just take a look at everything that can be done using Acronis Mobile:
Back up your Android contacts
Of all the data saved on Android phones, the contacts in the address book are perhaps the most important. To ensure that you always have access to email addresses and phone numbers, it is essential to back them up and store them in a particularly secure external location. With Acronis Mobile you can backup your Android’s address book, saving it in a few minutes on a PC or in the cloud.
Back up your Android videos
In recent years, the quality of Android videos has definitely improved and users can now shoot high definition footage with great ease. Precisely for this simplicity, many now use the video function to record important moments that they want to remember. Again it is important to ensure maximum protection by using reliable backups. As with photos, Acronis Mobile allows you to back up Android videos to your PC or cloud, ensuring minimal effort for the user.
No Android calendar reminders will be lost!
If used correctly, the Android Calendar is a very useful tool for remembering commitments and appointments. Losing access to this function of your device can also have very serious repercussions, causing drops in productivity and numerous missed appointments. Acronis Mobile ensures continuous access to notes entered in the calendar, regardless of what happens to your Android phone or tablet.
Back up Android text messages
In addition to email, SMS can also be a great way to exchange important communications. Whether it’s the messages of a loved one or information sent by the bank, we all have text messages that we want to keep.
Backing up your SMS in the cloud or on a PC allows you to store these messages indefinitely and can also help reduce clutter in Android mail. In particular, Acronis Mobile guarantees the backup of SMS quickly and easily, leaving you free to choose whether to save them all or select only the most important ones.
Acronis Mobile – How to save Android backups to PC
Lots of Android backup apps force you to save data on Google. Instead, Acronis Mobile allows you to choose where to store them. With Acronis Mobile it is possible, in fact, not only to store data on a protected cloud server, but also on a local PC. This second option is ideal especially for those who create and save many files on the phone (or are particularly concerned that their Google account is being hacked).

Most Google accounts have limited storage space of 15 GB – a capacity that ends soon if you back up many photos and videos. With the local PC option of Acronis Mobile you can have all the storage space you need: you just need to have free space on the hard disk of the target computer.
